As a Producer, Director and Writer, Allison Argo’s films have won numerous awards including six national Emmys. Dupont-Columbia, Genesis, Chris, Cindy Gold, CINE Golden Eagle, Jackson Hole, Missoula and the Japan Wildlife Film Festival awards.

Her first documentary THE URBAN GORILLA, which Argo produced, directed and wrote, was broadcast by National Geographic. This compelling look at gorillas under human care earned the prestigious Dupont-Columbia Silver Baton, a Genesis Award and was nominated for two Emmys.

For her second film, KEEPERS OF THE WILD, a one-hour National Geographic PBS Special, Argo won a national Emmy Award for directing. THE LAST FROG, again for National Geographic, also won a national Emmy, 'Best of Festival' at the Missoula International Wildlife Film Festival, and Best Short Film at the Jackson Hole and Japan Wildlife Film Festivals. THE LAST FROG examines the mysterious decline of frogs across the globe.

Other projects which Argo has produced, directed and written for National Geographic include STOLEN TREASURES, about the struggle to protect Cambodia's ancient temples of Angkor; SNAKE INVASION, the story of the Brown Tree Snake and its devastating effect on the small island of Guam; INCA MUMMIES: SECRETS OF A LOST WORLD, a National Geographic/ PBS Special about the Inca of Peru and the efforts to preserve the remnants of their culture; and THE SECRET LIFE OF CATS, a look at our domestic bond with cats and where it has gone awry (this film received a National Emmy in 1999).

For PBS, Argo has produced and directed numerous films, including: EXTRAORDINARY DOGS, WISDOM OF THE WILD, and THE URBAN ELEPHANT, for which Argo won two National Emmys in 2001 – one for Outstanding Documentary and the other for Directing. Her next PBS project, CHIMPANZEES: AN UNNATURAL HISTORY, took a hard look at the thousands of chimpanzees living in North America and received a National Emmy in 2007, a Genesis Award, a WorldMedal from the New York Festivals, Best of Festival at Montana’s CINE International and First Place at the US Int’l Film & Video Festival.

CRASH: A TALE OF TWO SPECIES, premiered on PBS in March 2008. The film tells the story of a small bird on an extraordinary migration and the ancient horseshoe crab. It’s a cautionary tale about the interconnectedness of all species. To date, the film has received major awards including Best of Festival at Ekotop, the Sapphire Award from the International Wildlife Festival in Missoula, as well as awards from the US Int’l Film & Video Festival and the Reel Earth Festival in New Zealand. Crash has just been nominated for a National Emmy.

ArgoFilms most recent film, FROGS: The Thin Green Line, revisits the amphibian world and examines one of the greatest environmental crises of our time: the escalating extinction of frogs. Shot in Australia, Central America and throughout the US, the film premiered on PBS in April of 2009.

Based on Cape Cod, ArgoFilms Ltd. is dedicated to finding innovative ways of bringing message-driven films to mainstream television.
